On the last match day of the competition, 3 other teams managed to win the championship. This followed the example of youth 4 who had already won the title the week before.
Men 1 still needed 2 points to be sure. Opponent and 'competitor' Veldhoven 2 had already given up hope and sent no less than 3 substitutes to Stiphouse. The score became 9-1. Our flagship team, consisting of Peter Bruurs, Frenklin van der Burgt, Jörgen Duitsman and Carlo Seelen, collected no less than 72 points and will play in the Premier League again next season.
Men 3 started with a deficit of no less than 8 points against leader Meppers 2. The assignment was clear, they had to win at least 9-1. However, in the away match they won 3-7, so 9-1 did not seem impossible. In a great atmosphere it actually became 9-1! Bram Canton, Han van de Poel and Lex van de Westelaken ensured this equally great and remarkable performance. Together with 4th man Joris van Rijsingen they stayed one point ahead of Meppers 2 and were promoted to the 2nd class. Kudos to the heroes!
The men's team 6 faced an even more impossible task. After hearing the result of their closest competitor Flash 6, a 10-0 win, only a 10-0 victory over Meppers 4 would suffice. Carolien van de Kerkhof was unable to play in this match due to other commitments. Instead of Carolien, Stefan Harmsen played and together with father and son Ario and Bastiaan Nab, the tension gradually increased during the evening. In the end, Stefan managed to score the 10th and decisive point. The same number of points as their competitor Flash 6, but a better result between them (a 7-3 win at home, a 6-4 loss away). A great achievement! Next season, 4th class.
