After two years due to known circumstances, the Oliebollentoernooi could finally take place again on Sunday 8 January 2023 in TTV Stiphout. This was combined with the New Year's reception.
More than 40 participants took part in the first tournament of the year, never before had there been such a high turnout. Both the youth and the seniors were well represented this edition. Under the guidance of Jasper and Joris, as many matches as possible were played. In between the games, Carla provided the delicious oliebollen and Walter provided the drinks, for which both many thanks!
The final of the Oliebollentoernooi was between Carlo and Peter. A full house saw Peter eventually pull the longest straw.
The New Year's reception was opened by our chairman Erwin. He started by honoring the jubilees. Bastiaan and Jan have both been members for 5 years, Hans for 10 years and Ruud and George for 40 years.
This was followed by the honoring of the champions of the past season. Among the youth, Liang, Loek, Corinna and Nicolás had become champions in the Juniors J3. Among the seniors, men 1 consisting of Ben, Jörgen, Peter and Carlo had become champions in the 1st class and men 4 with Mick, Frenklin, Tim and Jean-Louis had become champions in the 3rd class. Furthermore, Bastiaan, Tomislav and Ario had become champions in the 2nd class of the TLE.
After this, it was time to award the Oliebol of the year. This edition, the Oliebol was determined by looking at who scored the most points on average in each set. This allowed Lex to consider himself lucky with the coveted title of 'Oliebol of the Year'.
Finally, Arthur was named Member of Merit for his years of dedication to youth training. Together with an enthusiastic group of students, TTV Stiphout is very proud of Arthur and his work within the club.
It was a hugely successful tournament with a very pleasant New Year's reception. Thanks to everyone who registered and to the volunteers who made it a great event. We hope to see you again next year!
